    Cruise Toronto Employment

    Since 1991 Cruise Toronto has built a reputation as a tourism industry leader in innovative product and customer service. Cruise Toronto is a corporate charter company in Toronto Harbour which also hosts educational programs and public day sails. It owns and operates Challenge, a 96 foot, three-masted schooner, Kajama, a 165 foot, three-masted gaff-rigged schooner and Obsession III, a 78 foot motor yacht.

    We have full and part time positions available from May to September for individuals with an excellent work ethic, enthusiastic personality and a strong sense of what giving excellent customer service entails. The following positions are available:

    Working Chef

    (Full Time Seasonal Contract) Apply for job

    Great Lakes Schooner and Cruise Toronto are looking for an experienced working chef to deliver the high standards required by an industry leader in Toronto’s thriving boat cruise industry.

    The Tall Ship Kajama has become an iconic feature in the waterfront and we are committed to providing the highest quality of food to our guests. We are looking for an individual that can continue to implement these high standards and bring a fresh new energy to our team.

    The candidate must have the ability to work in a fast paced work environment and have strong time management skills. They are responsible for ensuring all food is prepared for our three vessels Kajama, Challenge and Obsession III.

    Your role as the working Chef is to manage a successful kitchen with strong leadership, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a team in creating the perfect customer experience every time.

    Qualifications

    ·         5 + years of experience as a chef in an operational fast paced kitchen.
    ·         Food ordering and food cost experience.
    ·         Hands on cooking is essential.
    ·         Experience of buffet and banquet preparation.
    ·         Manage a team of up to 10-15 people.
    ·         Ensure food quality, consistency and presentation is met.
    ·         Must work well under pressure and able to make quick decisions while supporting and overseeing the team.

    Assistant Cruise Coordinator (Office)

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Monitor, maintain, and communicate with clients regarding cruise details 
    • Deal with catering staff about preparation of menus and themes 
    • Maintaining cruise accounts receivables and payables (Excel, Word, ACT all helpful)

    Qualifications

    • Must have at least 1 years’ experience in a hospitality/tourism program 
    • Must have strong computer skills, a working knowledge of accounting, and communication skills, and ability to up sell 
    • Must have superior organizational and telephone skills, and knowledge of food and beverage is a plus

    Office Assistant

    • Answer telephone enquiries from guests and direct them appropriately
    • Take bookings for Public Cruises on our reservation systems.
    • General data entry requirements and office tasks. 
    • Keeping on top of our social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter 

    Qualifications 

    • Experience of working in an office is a plus
    • Strong organizational skills as well as professional telephone manner
    • An understanding of Social Media Marketing platforms.

    Food and Beverage Supervisors

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Manage, oversee and help train employees
    • Supervise the day-to-day operations of bar and catering. This includes inventory, ordering, and opening and closing of daily accounts
    • Customer service management – directly troubleshooting problem areas and ensuring customer satisfaction

    Qualifications:

    • Must have extensive food and beverage experience
    • Must have strong people and problem solving skills, and customer service experience
    • Must be able to work independently and be a fast leaner

    • Prepare meals for private cruises of 40 – 225 people, as well as a limited menu for public daytours. 
    • Keep inventory and receive deliveries
    • Maintain kitchen to health board standards

    Qualifications:

    • Must have at least 3 years’ education or practical food experience 
    • Must have knowledge of Toronto’s food preparation standards 
    • Must be able to work independently in a busy environment 
    • Must have a professional appearance and some customer service experience

    Dock Staff

    • Ticket sales to groups and individuals walking along the harbour
    • Aid in the preparation and implementation of daily activities, such as merchandise sales 
    • Additional hours maybe available for food service and catering duties

    • Great for 1st year students who have a willingness to move up within the company over the following years

    Deckhands

    • Maintenance of Traditional Sailing Ships under the captain’s supervision 
    • Help caterers set up and tear down food stations
    • Sailing the ship during day and evening functions
    • Assist in teaching during May/June to Sail through Time Education program
    • Ensuring excellent customer service and product quality is always provided

    Qualifications:

    • Strong people skills and ability to work in a team atmosphere
    • Sailing experience is a plus 
    • Food and beverage experience needed
    • Keen interest in sailing

    Photographer

    Responsibilities and duties:

    • Take photos of guests boarding our public day tours 
    • Welcome and greet guests, answer questions regarding the vessel and the tour 
    • Print photos below deck and sell pictures to the guests on board
    • Assist other crew members with foodservice, cruise preparation if there is time

    Qualifications:

    • Keen interest and prior photography experience (school or practical) 
    • Good customer service skills
    • Outgoing confident personality 
    • Comfortable in talking to groups of people.
    • Some sales experience a plus
    • Must enjoying working outdoors
